if you have grown up in this area, then chances are you have been to the annual mountain state fair. in high school, it was something that we looked forward to every year, and so many memories and stories came from those times spent at the fair. the funny thing is that it still has that same draw. the bright lights, the spinning rides, the candy sweets, and the early crispness of fall. it is an unforgettable atmosphere of excitement.
so, naturally we wanted to share that excitement with jackson. and he loved it. it wasn’t long before he wanted to get out of his stroller and start exploring. his first stop was to check out all of the different animals. being that he is now learning how to imitate animal sounds, this was particularly interesting. he wanted to stop at every single stall, and his little face was consumed with awe.
then came the rides. he was mesmerized by the bright lights and fast-moving machines. he would point and laugh and get so excited when they would stop and start. i think he was bummed that he didn’t quite meet the height requirements for riding. hey, there is always next year.
but i think the highlight of his night was when my dad (poppy) helped him win a small teddy bear, which we have now aptly named “fair bear”. he had to snatch up a rubber duck floating in a stream of water in order to win the prize. and with a little teamwork, he did just that. oh, and you better believe he was proud of that little bear. he carried it around the rest of the evening and never once let it out of his sight.
while we were only there a short amount of time, the fair delivered all the magic i had hoped for jackson. and of course, you can see all of our fair photos by clicking on the image above. it was so much fun, and i look forward to visiting the fair many years to come.
